While moving a big potted N. mirabils this morning we discovered that it has been (quite happily) growing hydroponically for the last year or so, with the roots dangling into a big water jug. Here's a couple shots; ~Shawn

Just like a water hyacinth.
Now what was someone saying that nepenthes roots is just for plant support and nutrients should be only fed into pitchers. These roots do more than absorb water or anchor a plant!
Nice roots!

Now that we know as common knowledge that nepenthes are root feeders and that fertilizers are helpful for growing them. Then why is it that so many people are still just feeding their plants just bugs for nutrients? And now people want to use coffee for nutrients? M

Well coffee goes good with donuts, so maybe it goes good with roaches?

That's something a FAT police officer might say. Are you a police officer?
And whatever you eat when you drink your coffee is strictly your business. We do not need to know what else you eat with your coffee besides donuts.
But please try it before Andrew Zimmerman concocts a new recipe for them on his next show. Or maybe he'll change his show from "Bizarre Foods" to "Bizarre Dudes" just for YOU!
Bon Appetit! M
