Dear François, If this N. thorelii is a perfect match for the original type, I am rather doubting the identity of this plant: www.rci.rutgers.edu/~dpevans/Nepenthes/N_thorelii.htmWhen I look at the iso and holotypes, it appears the leaf attachment is hyperfoliate, while on my plant it is not and the margins are slightly decurrent. Not a good match. But we know nothing about the population this plant came from... Or do we? Also, the tendrils are far shorter than on my plant...

Hello Dave! Dear François, If this N. thorelii is a perfect match for the original type, Dave, these are the original types! The ones described by H. Lecomte himself! I am rather doubting the identity of this plant: www.rci.rutgers.edu/~dpevans/Nepenthes/N_thorelii.htmWhen I look at the iso and holotypes, it appears the leaf attachment is hyperfoliate, while on my plant it is not and the margins are slightly decurrent. Not a good match. But we know nothing about the population this plant came from... Or do we? Also, the tendrils are far shorter than on my plant... I have been very interested by those so called pear-shape thorelii from Cambodia. Indeed, we know nothing about them. It might be a new taxon or a hybrid (though I don't know from which parent the pear-shaped would come from!). If you stumble onto the location, please drop me a line: I will return to Cambodia in 6 months to check some new locations. Or, were you talking about the locations of Paris' lectotypes? Friendly, François.

Okay, good those are the originals. If only we could figure out whether they are species or hybrids Next question: image03.webshots.com/3/9/24/10/73892410Fhymmx_fs.jpgThe plant in this photo, which looks a lot like N. anamensis growing with D. peltata is actually scheduled to be named N. bokor, correct? I see Don Pirot changed his folders up some. This photo used to be in an album with a caption saying, I'm trying to remember from years back, that he found it a National Park near Bokor Hill. Now the caption just says, "plants that grow on you".

Hi Dave ! Your link ain't working. But I guess you're refering to that very picture: www.nepenthesofthailand.com/fotosito/Pirot1.jpgI know this picture so damn well. This is because of Don pirot that I have decided to check Bokor Hill. Pirot's picture was introduced to me by Marcello's site: www.nepenthesofthailand.com/MapCambo.htmMarcello fisrt thought it was N. smilesii before I went to Bokor Hill. Yes, this plant is likely to be N. bokor. But we have to be careful, I've read in Notulae systematicae, p.61, (that's the paper written by H. Lecomte) that N. smilesii (identified as such by Lecomte) had also been found near Bokor Hill, in the Popokwill falls (located within the Bokor NP). So, either this plants mentionned by Lecomte is indeed N. smilesii or it is a mislabelled N. bokor, or a hybrid (or even something else) ;D. I'ts a shame that I've spent too much time on N. bokor and did'nt care to check the Popokvill falls. I'll do it next time. (Besides, I now know there's a rosette sundew growing on those falls ( D. spatulata? burmanii?)) Last thing: I've discovered, while working at the herbarium, that N. bokor does not only grow on Bokor Hill. I'll check that too. So much to be done... Exciting! ;D François.

Sockhom,
The link does work, you just have to copy and past it into the address bar, because the page hosting the link doesn't allow remote linking.
