Hi, I was almost falling asleep for an afternoon nap, when that name came back to my mind. I knew it was a synonym, but I couldn't remember of what. I checked, and it seems to be N. gymnamphora. But on the cp database, N. melamphora is said to be coming from Borneo too, while N. gymnamphora only grows in Java and Sumatra. Any idea? Did any taxonomist already check those Bornean plants?...

I suppose "S. Borneo" mean Kalimantan... Are you headed there next? Just kidding, I don't know what to make of this situation with N. melamphora.

I still have a lot to do in Indochina, and I prefer to do one job but in the best way This melamphora thing was just for my curiosity, and maybe for anybody who's looking for new species Well, I guess I'll ask Charles Clarke...

Hi all,
according to Jebb and Cheek N. melamphora is a junior synonym of N. gymnamphora. N. melamphora var. lucida is from the Meratus mountains of S. Kalimantan; hasn't been recollected and while similar to N. gymnamphora differs in the lid shape and has very shiny leaves; hence the varietal name. This "variety" probably isn't N. gymnamphora but exactly what it is won't be known until more collecting is done in the Meratus mounts.
