Nice score Sam! With all those recent hybrids you've made, you certainly will need the extra room to grow them out! Here in the northeast, the cost of the greenhouse itself only represents about a third to a quarter of the actual total cost by the time it's all functional, with regard to plumbing, hot and cold water, including sewage, electrical lines, heating, back-up systems, alarms, etc. Good luck! Need any help? - Rich

Hey Rich, The numbers are about the same here. One third for the structure, one third for the preparation and one third for the irrigation and benches. Fortunately most of the land clearing has already been done so I might get by without a bulldozer. There will be lots of tractor work but I have a tractor at my disposal and its kinda fun for a while. Disassembly will be a pain and I will probably need to grind off all old bolts. The legs will all need to be cut off at ground level ( .. I'll do a sleeve arrangement on my end so I don't lose the height) and I'll need to jimmy around some rust damage. I figure two weeks to take it all down and transport it ..... if I can find a little help. The worst day will be when I have to rent the 80+ lb. rock drill and big compressor in order to drill maybe 50 holes. There is only rock and no such thing as a "easy hole" on my property. I grabbed an excavator that was working down the road the other day and had him bust some post holes for a gate. As he sat in the cab, pounding away with his rock buster, he keep mumbling "I hate Leilani Estates". I am flip-flopping between excitement and dread. ;D

Ahh yes Sam, but by the end of the day, a bad day at a Nepenthes farm is still far better than a good day at the usual work office! I really wish I could be there! It's a good thing that you don't have to worry too much about overnight killing frosts and winter snow/ice storms hitting all those plants! Those things cost me more than a few sleepless nights when I had my greenhouse! Still the infrastructure alone will be a major score in your new greenhouse extension! Most of the rest is only "window dressings" and "fine tuning adjustments" like the old nuts and bolts stuff. The new frame and the coverings are worth at least twice the amount you paid! Sweet deal indeed! Good luck with it all! - Rich

Your first line says it soooo well there Rich! I think 'twice the amount' is under valuing by a lot! Congratulations Sam. We just finished greasing every single bolt on all three of the new greenhouses here and though it added an hour or two to the re-assembly time, I know I'll be thankful for it should I ever have to disassemble them in the future!
Just try to visualize getting a VERY strong massage while you're doing that jack-hammering Sam! I know, ... its a BIG stretch! :>)

Hey Shawn, (and anyone else!), I'd drop whatever (wherever) I'm doing to move in and help you guys and anyone else (including Hawaii) to get your projects with Nepenthes going on as planned! This corporate life in this business world is killing me! Gotta' be a better way to make a living and get by! After a 12 to 14 hour day, (or more) you begin to wonder whether you're working for a living, or just living for the working! - Rich
