Borneo; Moss Forest, Highland (1500 - 2500 m)
Synonym: stenophylla Mast.
Description: DANSER 288, KURATA 48
Stems: climbing, to 10 m; cylindrical, to .4- .6 cm thick.
Leaves: petiolate, canaliculate, narrow wings forming an amplexicaul sheath; lamina spathulate to lanceolate: 12 cm x 4 cm to 16 cm x 6 cm; apex rounded or peltate; base attenuate; veins: 2- 3, located in the outer 1/3 of lamina, pennate veins forming a reticulate network.
Lower Pitchers: tubulose: 10 cm x 2 cm to 15 cm x 3 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to 0.3 cm; mouth ovate, oblique, elevated towards the lid; peristome cylindrical, to .4- .8 cm wide; lid oblong; to 3x1 cm, apex rounded, base rounded, with a ventral glandular crest in the basal part, a glandular boss near the apex; spur simple, inserted about.8 cm from lid, to .5- .8 cm.
Upper Pitchers: funnel shaped: 8 cm x 3 cm to 15 cm x 4 cm; 2 prominent ribs present; mouth round, horizontal in the front, elevated towards the lid; peristome flattened, to .3- .8 cm wide; lid narrowly triangular, to 3- 4 cm, apex rounded, base cordate; lid with a ventral glandular crest in the basal part, a glandular boss near the apex; spur simple, inserted about.8 cm from lid, to .5- .8 cm.
Inflorescence: a short raceme, to 10- 15 cm; pedicels 1- 2 flowered, 0.8 cm long; bracts not present.
Indumentum: the young parts very dense and reddish brown, becoming glabrous with age, with the exception of inflorescence.
Color: leaf blade dark-green above, light- green below, tendril light- green, sometimes purple, lower pitcher blackish purple with green blotches or stripes, upper pitcher light- green with dark red stripes, lid blackish purple with small green spots.
Distinguishing Features: glandular boss at apex of lid, lid is narrowly triangular.
