I didn't think it'd be THAT hard to read the OP, but ok, I'll play.

Lam, the Biak form is more diminutive compared to the Tayeve form. That could be the cause for the size discrepancy. The BE clone, IIRC, is the Biak form.

You sent me some. I didn't have spectacular germination and nothing made it past about 1/4".
I've had the sib x hamata discussion with someone by email a while ago. Though it may have been intentioned to be sib x hamata, it definitely is not. My reasoning I haven't the time to get into right now, but in short, so much variation in a primary hybrid, with none of the seedlings looking anything like a predicted outcome is strong evidence that it is not what it is purported to be. Whoever says that you can't predict what the outcome will be of a hybridization either hasn't looked at enough pictures of the parents or hasn't the hybridizing experience (or they're just really terrible and predicting an outcome).
And Geoff, the photos you posted do not look like sib x hamata to me. At first glance, sib x maxima, yes. But hey what do I know.

I don't really have time to read the thread, just popping in for a sec, so excuse me if I repeat something. I've used lots of cedar, and I've liked it. I'm sure someone's mentioned the oils as insect repellent, and at least in my case, it has worked as such. In fact I probably have about 10lbs worth of ants living in my chamber right now, but none in the cedar/perlite mixes. The only thing to worry about is it drying out, since it can and will do so pretty quickly. It's easy to let stuff get too dry in it. I bought a 50lb bag and try to get 1/3 fibers, 1/3 small chunks, and 1/3 large chunks as the cedar component of whatever mix I'm using. I add other things like perlite etc from there. That way you will get some water retention, but not too much. Play with the ratios and find what works for you. Off to fail some more exams .

You're a man, so "-eae" and "-iana" endings won't fly.

Mine finally made a pitcher, but it has since dried up. Funny thing, while about 70% of my collection has died because I'm too busy to water it, my mirabilises are all doing great with drier media.

Definitely nothing special, but I've been waiting over a year for this thing to do anything: For anyone wondering where I am....medical school. I'm in class from 8-5 every day, have a test or two a week and at least 2 quizzes every week, and I have to study at least 4 hours a day when I get home. This is going to be a painful couple of years lol.

Looks like it's starting to take a more lowii-like appearance than it had a few months ago.

Maxima x boschiana x boschiana is not an F2, but a backcross. An F2 would be (maxima x boschiana) x (maxima x boschiana).

I like albo x veitchii. There's a good amount of variation in it, and I find it one of the subtly pretty plants. Everyone needs some pretty but not overbearing plants in their collection.

Let's pretend everything went with with import/export.
As to the people you'd have to deal with, I don't think it's very hard at all to decide what you want, and even less difficult to decide what you can afford. So, if you want people in on the order, there's going to have to be mutual trust, and you're going to have to give them a week tops to decide what they want, then contact whoever you're importing from, then give the people you're dealing with a week tops to pay for their share of the costs. I'm in class or studying literally 13-18 hours per day, so I'm busier than probably 99.9% of people on all the forums, and it wouldn't take me more than 2 days to make up an envelope to send some money out, or more than about 5 minutes to use PayPal, and that's being liberal with the time I'd allow myself.

Very nice (wish I had some). However, at this age, the lids don't look "apple shaped" at all to me. They still look round...perhaps slightly laterally orbicular.

Thanks. Well I hope not. I just now realized though that some of the neps that I watered with this stuff (mirabilis, sp. Viking, etc) are found growing on or near beaches.

More or less. It was a saline solution for irrigation.
