Fantastic color on that one! I don't even have any of the hybrids with those species, or the species themselves, you're starting to make me jealous!

Oh, go right ahead, make me look pathetic.... I've seen this pic on other thread, but every time I do, it's stunning! Of all the plants to turn out solid anthracite in color, it's the one with my favorite name..... need to start experimenting with more seeds...... drool....

50 Euros at the current exchange rate equals probably somewhere around US $75.

I think the only thing I've seen blacker is Whimgrinder's N. naga.

The Melvino is stunning, as is the second specimen of what I suspect is the merriliana x raff.

This forum can be vey slow at times.... Labeling the plants crossed in a greenhouse as opposed to ones cultivated from wild material will be different, and varieties of the same species that were thousands of miles apart (take for example, a mirabilis from China and cross it with one from Australia) ought to be recognized as not being crosses possible naturally, but there's no reason to say it still isn't the same species, just a new form found only in horticulture.

Great plant! The color is very impressive, if muted, and the peristome seems to keep the spectabilis x truncata colors very well!

Spectabilis x truncata would make an amazing cross with vent. If it does flower, please PM me, I would hate to let such an opportunity go astray.

Hello, Posted this in the pollen exchange board, but decided to do so here as well just to make sure it's seen: I have a large male N. ventricosa "red" that is opening flowers right now, so I'm looking for anyone who has females that are receptive. There's 2 flowers stalks so I'll have plenty of pollen. PM if interested. ~hcarlton
