A sincere "WELCOME" to all new members.
This site is a work in progress with much work yet to be done. Please bear with us as I and the staff attempt to fill in many of the blanks.
Should you have questions or suggestions for this site please feel free to post them here in this thread and we will consider and perhaps act upon them.
We have some great staff members already on board and we are still in the process of recruiting more individuals to work the various areas within the site. We are in particular need of individuals with multiple language skills, coding skills and those able to provide in situ field reports. If, you have any of these skills or can make a contribution in some other area and would be interesting in joining in and advancing this project then, please feel free to contact 'unclemasa' by PM and we will see if we can put you to work.
Thank you for having registered and we hope you will enjoy what we have so far. You can expect that it will only get better and more comprehensive in the future so check back often.

Greetings and salutations to everyone checking this out. It is with great hopes that this nepenthes exclusive site will capture all the attention of everyone even those with just one plant (of course that will change as they see what our members are doing) to those who are addicted to growing everything. This site promises to be an ongoing and developing project to create awareness in the nepenthes community and make important changes that will benefit all of us. While some have condone the marvels of the modern era of vast communication, rapid travel and technologies, I would like to address the benefits of these advances. This forum comprises many different continents, islands and other divides, and we come together, setting aside religious, political and cultural differences all because we grow and collect these fascinating plants. Perhaps if we could get our world leaders, presidents and royalties to join this forum, perhaps our world would be a better place for all of us to live in. Education is the key for prevention, increasing awareness and advocating ideas and through the same rapid fast paced technology we can accomplish this. It is with great hopes that this forum can become a vehicle for these sharing of ideas and knowledge. So please let this forum be a helpful tool, the guiding light and a reality check for all to see.

Really fantastic resource. Thanks a lot guys! wow! If I may have one comment, the titles are a bit hard to see. If you guys need some help with developing a bit of graphics, I am willing to volunteer. Especially, if you want a nice blending...logo banner for your nursery Sam. Check out the forum on ocps.proboards78.com/ I designed the skin and banner for it.

I would just like to add that it would be helpful for new people to have a place to introduce themselves at. Is it possible for the site to have a forum for introductions? It is nice to have a place where you can give a brief intro about yourself and ask about some things in your intro that has got you confused and maybe someone can help you.....or if you are not new at all to neps you can offer your help to others..... Thanks, Jesse Fierro Update: Thank you for making an introductions forum.

Hello, I am David, I have been a memeber of this site for over a year, but this is the first time, I think that I have said hello. HELLO. I am a lover of Nepenthes which I am sure you all are. I grow my plants in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. I have 2 small greenhouses both about 10' x 12'. One is for Lowlands the other for Highlands. I have about 200 plants both Hybrids and Species. We are in the midst of the worse winter in the Washington DC history. Last week we had a hugh snow storm or more then 2 feet of snow and tomorrow we will be belted again with more snow. So far our power has not gone out, thank God. I don't know what I would do if it did because all the beautiful Nepenthes would perish. ANy suggestions if electric power would go out? Anyway I wanted to say hello and hope some Nepenthes colletors from my neck of the woods would say hello. It is lonely here in Maryland with no Nepenthes lovers to talk too. my e mail address is dsilver217@aol.com if you want to say hello. thanks David

Hi David,
I feel for you. I have about 21" of snow on my driveway now, and am expecting another 8" to 10" tomorrow.
If I were you, I'd invest in a generator sufficient to power the heating apparatus in both of your greenhouses, as well as a supply of fuel to power it for a few days. Good luck finding one this week, though. They are sold out everywhere here in Pittsburgh, along with tomatoes, bananas, and snow shovels. If you get one, don't make the mistake of running it inside the house. That's a sure-fire way to die of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Oh, if you are married, better get one for the house, too.
Welcome to the forum!
