Upper Pitchers: gradually or abruptly originating from the tendrils, narrowly infundibulate in the lower part, tubulose in the upper 3/5 to 2/3 part, often little widened where these parts meet, rarely narrowly infundibulate over entire length: 8 cm x 2 cm to 18 cm x 4 cm; 2 prominent ribs present; mouth oblique, acute, elevated towards the lid; peristome flattened, to .1- 1 cm wide; lid ovate- cordate, to 2- 4 cm, apex obtuse, base cordate, lid without a ventral glandular crest, but more densely glandular towards the midrib; spur inserted close to lid, flattened, rarely branched, to .2- .5 cm.
Inflorescence: a raceme, to 30 cm; pedicels 1- 2 flowered, 1- 1.8 cm long; bracts filiform.
Indumentum: rather long, appressed in young parts, later differently dense, usually deciduous on stems and leaves.
Color: of young stems and leaves glossy green, lighter below, midrib often reddish or brown, rosette pitchers green with red spots or wholly red outside, inner surface red to violet, brown, upper pitchers always less red, often green, or with red spots.
