Description: DANSER 322, KURATA 53
Stems: climbing, to 8 m; cylindrical, to .6- 1 cm thick.
Leaves: petiolate, canaliculate forming a short sheath at the base; lamina oblong- lanceolate: 15 cm x 6 cm to 30 cm x 9 cm; margins hirsute; apex rounded; base abruptly contracted; veins: 3- 4, located in the outer part of lamina,.
Lower Pitchers: durable, globose in the lower part, funnel shaped in the upper part, strongly contracted in the middle: 15 cm x 6 cm to 20 cm x 12 cm; wings not present; mouth ovate, almost horizontal; peristome almost none, to .2- .5 cm wide; lid ovate, to 12 x 9 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, distinctly keeled and vaulted, scattered coarse and long bristles on the lower surface; spur simple, attenuate, inserted close to lid.
Upper Pitchers: durable, globose in the lower part, funnel shaped in the upper part, strongly contracted in the middle: 15 cm x 6 cm to 20 cm x 12 cm; wings not present; mouth ovate, almost horizontal; peristome almost none, to .2- .5 cm wide; lid ovate, to 12 x 9 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, lid distinctly keeled and vaulted, scattered coarse and long bristles on the lower surface; spur simple, attenuate, inserted close to lid.
Inflorescence: a raceme, to 15- 30 cm; pedicels 2 flowered, 2 cm long; bracts not present.
Indumentum: sparse, the stems glabrous from the beginning, the leaves very tomentose when young, soon glabrous.
Color: leaf blade dark- green above, light- green below, tendril light- green, sometimes purplish- green, pitcher dark- green outside, dark- red inside, lid green above, dark- red below.
Distinguishing Features: the pitcher and lid shape are very distinct.
