N. masoalensis Schmid- Hollinger (1977) Madagascar; Moss Forest Description: LECOUFLE, CPN
Stems: climbing, to 8 m; cylindrical. Leaves: petiolate, semi- amplexicaul, with narrow wing clasping the stem; lamina oblong: to 25 cm x 4.5 cm; margins entire; apex acute; base attenuate. Lower Pitchers: ovate in the lower third and attenuate toeards the mouth: to 10 cm x 4 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to 0.3 cm; mouth orbiculate; peristome cylindrical, to 0.1 cm wide; lid reniform, to 2.5 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, glandular. Upper Pitchers: infundibulate in the lower part, then contracted in the middle and cylindrical in the upper part: to 12 cm x 4 cm; 2 prominent ribs present; mouth orbiculate; peristome cylindrical, to 0.1 cm wide; lid reniform, to 2.5 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, lid glandular. Inflorescence: a panicle. Indumentum: ferrugineous on young parts. Color: pitchers green with red spots or not, lid green above, bright red below. Distinguishing Features:
