Synonyms: boschiana Becc., celebica Hook.f., maxima Becc., oblanceolata Ridl.

Description: DANSER 326, JEBB 29
Stems: climbing, to 6 m; cylindrical to triangular, often winged from leaf bases, to .3- 1 cm thick.
Leaves: petiolate, decurrent, wings may run up to 2 internodes down stem; lamina obovate to lanceolate: 10 cm x 3 cm to 20 cm x 6 cm; margins pubescent; apex blunt to acute; base attenuate; veins: 1- 3, located in the outer 1/3 - 1/4 of lamina, pennate nerves irregular, spike- like axillary buds.
Lower Pitchers: narrowly ovoid becoming cylindrical above, occasionally hipped, or whole pitcher ellipsoidal, widest at middle: to 18 cm x 5 cm; 2 fimbriate wings, to 0.8 cm; mouth oblique, elongated to the neck; peristome rounded, to .2- .5 cm wide; lid ovate to triangular- ovate, apex obtuse, base cordate, with laterally flattened appendage on basal part of midrib and filiform appendage near apex; spur simple, small, inserted close to lid, to 0.5 cm.
Upper Pitchers: abruptly or gradually originating from tendril, not always truly outfacing, infundibulate to cylindrical, occasionally hipped: to 20 cm x 5 cm; 2 ribs, occasionally small fringed wings near mouth; mouth oblique, elongated towards the neck; peristome flattened, often with irregular folds toward outer margin, sometimes with acute peak on front edge; lid orbicular and triangular, to 2- 5 cm, apex obtuse, base cordate, lid with laterally flattened appendage on basal part of midrib and filiform appendage near apex, very glandular; spur simple, to 0.5 cm.
Inflorescence: loose raceme, to 40 cm; pedicels 2 flowered, 2.5 cm long; bracts rarely.
Indumentum: variable, glabrous to densely pubescent on stems, petioles, midrib, leaf margin, tendril and inflorescence.
Color: variable, leaves dark green, midrib and tendril red, pitcher usually flecked with red or maroon, rarely pale green. throughout, sepals red, stigma pale green, indumentum reddish brown.
Distinguishing Features: 2 lid appendages, irregular pennate nerves, spike- like buds, 2 flowered pedicel.s
