Synonym: leptoptera Zippel
Description: DANSER 341, JEBB 36
Stems: climbing or scrambling, to 10 m; angular below nodes otherwise cylindrical, to 1 cm thick.
Leaves: petiolate, winged, slightly decurrent; lamina lanceolate: to 35 cm x 8 cm; apex acute; base tapering; veins: 3- 4, located in the outer 1/3 of lamina, pennate nerves numerous, irregularly reticulate.
Lower Pitchers: ovoid, becoming cylindrical towards mouth, but narrowest there: to 14 cm x 4.5 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to 1 cm; mouth oblique, not forming neck; peristome flattened, sloping inwards, to 0.08 cm wide; lid sub- orbicular, to 6 cm, apex emarginate, base cordate, glandular; spur simple, flattened inserted close to lid, to 0.5 cm.
Upper Pitchers: gradually originating from tendril, finely infundibulate in lower part, becoming swollen at 2/5 its length, then slightly narrowed and barely widened again at its mouth: to 24 cm x 5 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to .5- .8 cm wide; mouth oblique, not forming neck; peristome cylindrical or flattened, to .2- .5 cm wide; lid sub- orbicular to truncate, to 6 cm, apex emarginate, base cordate; lid glandular; spur simple, flattened inserted close to lid, to 0.5 cm.
Inflorescence: loose panicle, to 40 cm; pedicels 4- 5 flowered, 5 cm long; bracts corycombs to 5cm.
Indumentum: very sparse, only on new leaves, which become glabrous, lower leaves often pubescent on margins and midrib.
Color: green, pitchers occasionally flecked with small amounts of red.
Distinguishing Features: heavily fringed upper and lower pitchers, corymbiform pedicels.
