Description: DANSER 362, KURATA 61
Stems: prostrate; cylindrical, to 1.5- 3 cm thick.
Leaves: petiolate, distinctly winged forming amplexicaul sheath; lamina elliptic or oblong: 20 cm x 10 cm to 45 cm x 15 cm; apex rounded and peltate; base abruptly contracted; veins: 3- 4, located in the outer 1/2 of lamina, pennate nerves irregularly reticulate.
Lower Pitchers: ellipsoidal: 15 cm x 10 cm to 35 cm x 18 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to .6- 1.5 cm; mouth elliptic, very oblique; peristome distinctly expanded and wavy at outer margin, 2- 5 cm broad near lid, to 1- 2 cm wide; lid ovate and vaulted, to 25 cm; apex rounded, base cordate, usually larger than the mouth in dimensions, midrib distinctly keeled in basal part, without glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid.
Upper Pitchers: infundibulate, abruptly contracted from the mouth towards the base: 15 cm x 10 cm to 35 cm x 18 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to .6- 1.5 cm wide; mouth elliptic, very oblique; peristome distinctly expanded and wavy at outer margin 2- 5 cm broad near lid, to 1- 2 cm wide; lid ovate and vaulted, to 25 cm, apex rounded, base cordate; lid usually larger than the mouth in dimensions, midrib distinctly keeled in basal part, without glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid.
Inflorescence: a long raceme, to 50- 80 cm; pedicels 1- 2 flowered, 2- 3 cm long; bracts not present.
Indumentum: young parts covered with long speading brown hairs, later glabrous.
Color: leaf blade dark- green above, light- green below, tendril light- green, sometimes purplish near pitcher, pitcher scarlet to purple, peristome purple to dark- red, lid scarlet to purple outside, yellow- green inside.
Distinguishing Features: greatly enlarged, vaulted lid.
