Synonyms: korthalsiana Macf., reinwardtii Hook.f.
Description: DANSER 364, KURATA 65
Stems: climbing, to 20 m; sharply triangular with 2 wings, to .4- .6 cm thick.
Leaves: sessile, amplexicaul and decurrent into 2 wings over one internode; lamina linear- lanceolate: 10 cm x 1.5 cm to 20 cm x 3 cm; apex acute; base slightly cordate; veins: 2- 4, located in the outer 1/3 of lamina, pennate veins very irregularly reticulate.
Lower Pitchers: tubulate- infundibulate, narrowed in the middle, little ventricose in the lower part: 10 cm x 2.5 cm to 20 cm x 5 cm; 2 prominent ribs present; mouth ovate, oblique; peristome cylindrical, ribs indistinct, 2 very distinct eye- spots occur inside beneath the neck of the lid, to 0.1 cm wide; lid elliptic, almost flat, to 2- 4 cm, apex rounded, base rounded, without a ventral glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid, to .1- .3 cm.
Upper Pitchers: originating from the tendril with 4 distinct sides then becoming tubulate- infundibulate, narrowed in the middle, little ventricose in the lower part: 10 cm x 2.5 cm to 20 cm x 5 cm; 2 prominent ribs present, to 0.1 cm wide; mouth ovate, oblique; peristome cylindrical, ribs indistinct, 2 very distinct eye spots occur inside beneath the neck of the lid, to 0.1 cm wide; lid elliptic, almost flat, to 2- 4 cm, apex rounded, base rounded, lid without a ventral glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid, to .1- .3 cm.
Inflorescence: a raceme, to 20- 35 cm; pedicels 2 flowered, 1- 2 cm long; bracts not present.
Indumentum: appressed and stellate in the young parts, otherwise glabrous, inflorescences velvety- tomentose.
Color: leaf dark- green above, light- green below, tendril light green, pitcher light- green to dark red outside, whitsh- green (light pink) in the pruinose part inside, peristome light green (red), lid same as pitcher.
Distinguishing Features: 2 very distinct eye- spots.
