Here are some pics of a developing, but still unopened Nepenthes clipeata pitcher. This carnivorous pitchering jungle vine is endemic to Borneo. Some members have commented on the phallic appearance of these unopened pitchers... ..and NO i'm not feeding it blondes... Rotate the pitcher sideways, and this pitcher changes in appearance, from something close to a fly... ...to something much more ant-like. dvg

Very nice clipeata pitcher pics Leilani, and appropriate for this thread as well. I posted a pic of the rear of the pitcher on a couple of forums, but Photobucket deleted my pics...seems i must have crossed over that phallic/phallus image threshold. That fuzzy raised ridge that starts at the pitcher's apex and carries on down the pitcher's 'backbone' is an interesting feature of this species...it may be as pronounced in other species, but i am unaware of it. dvg
