Hi Everyone! I ordered two N. clipeata from Wistuba ( just in case one dies in shipping ) and I wold like to know haw to take care of the plants. From what I know it grows on vertical granite cliff faces of Mount Kelam in Borneo. Grows in altitudes of approximately 600 to 800 m.
I'm going to use a mix of 50/40/10 long sphagnum / perlite / granite and 50% shade. The plant will be growing outside in Miami FL.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

You should not treat this plant like a lowlander with regard to its watering, it hates wet feet. Extremely similar to the watering needs of N. veitchii and N. albomarginata.
I consider it an intermediate species which means it likes warmth during the day and coolish but never cold temps at night. Also likes plenty of airflow. I've seen several plants die when kept in closed terrariums--conditions N. ampullaria does fine in.

Thanks Dave! I will let it dry a little before watering and I have a lot of air movement in the backyard.

Make sure to protect here in florida..wont survive our winter. And maybe it hads granite in natural habitat but in cultivation and dpending on conditions, it doesnt need granite in its mix. Hope that helps:) for all nepenthes i always say open and airy mix.

Thanks Dom! I will move it inside when it gets 55F. The mix is an experiment and will use granite on only one of the two.
