This thread will be to post some off the top crosses which combines parents which have their own look. Some offspring will be outlandish and others tamed by the other parent. These examples will hopefully help us understand how some of these species and complex hybrids play a role in developing their characteristics among their progeny.

N. spectabilis x gracilis combines a plant that wants to be diminutive (N. gracilis) with one that wants to be up in lights (N. spectabilis). The outcome is a plant somewhat reminiscent of a larger gracilis with longish narrow leaves and tubular pitchers. The role of spectabilis is played down with gracilis-like pitchers speckled in a fanciful way with a strong influence from N. spectabilis. This plant will be very useful in breeding warm growers with some attractive markings. M

N. sibuyanensis x ampullaria Mansell This hybrid combines ampullaria with its smaller pitchers and sibuyanensis' huge tubby ones. The dominance of N. ampullaria has superior features over sibuyanensis and the pitchers resemble ampullaria with the foliage like a rosetted sibuyanensis. This plant makes multiple basal-ground shoots with ease. The leaves get a purplish hue in bright light. M
