Hello all,
Great job on this forum!
I have been learning, looking and wondering and now have a question.
In the locked Botanical Descriptions section it is stated that Arthur Lauffenburger transcribed the descriptions.
I have noticed that the descriptions said to be by Danser are condensed from the the source I have used for many years. Is this intentionally meant to lessen the confusion posed by these written descriptions in the past, or is it an oversite? I feel it would be valuable for students using these descriptions to know if, and or why changes were made intentionally. The latin portion of Dansers desciptions were also left out, presumably because this information is now determined to be outdated.
One partial example is in the description of Nepenthes bicalcarata there is no mention of the tendril in the written description on this forum.
I mean no disrespect, I am just curious.
Take care, Steven Stewart

Hey Steve,
The descriptions were culled from the internet. There are as they were found.
If, you have a source for more complete versions then, please tell where we can find them.

Sam/ unclemasa, I am used to using the International Carnivorous Plant Society website for some information. They have a link to Jan Schlauer's Carnivorous Plant Database. When looking up Nepenthes species Jan has a link to Danser's work on the species that apply. There is more descriptive information available on the Nepenthes species that are in Danser than you have on this forum. If the ICPS or Jan Schlauer don't want you to download the work directly, possibly they wouldn't mind if you provide a link to it. Take care, Keep up all of the great work, Steven Stewart

Steve,
Where are you finding that at? Can you provide a link to where I can access these descriptions? I've always found the ICPS site a bit confusing (feel like I have to click way too many times to get to what I want).
Thanks

I've always found the ICPS site a bit confusing (feel like I have to click way too many times to get to what I want). Thanks Opening books several at a time and reading them piled on my lap and desk is what I am used to. I still prefer a dictionary to spellcheck. (please forgive all misspellings ) I know no other internet than the one of hunting and clicking Thats why I am so glad to see all of this great information! Providing links is not my area of expertise, but this will get you to one click from the information I am used to using. (I hope) www.carnivorousplant.org/cpdb/SearchCPdb.phpAs I said providing links is not my area of expertise. The link is only available on the ICPS site. Perhaps Sockhom/ Francois is more tech savvy than I am. Take care, Steven Stewart
