They do appear as if they could clasp around as they would in nature. Maybe a little assistance could help them get into the knack of it.

Sam, what are you growing this plant in? ... looks like the base of a support column?

It's interesting that this back cross has even regained the 180 degree leaf rotation, aside from looking so much like N. veitchii (not surprising). If this plant were to be found in northern Borneo, it would most certainly be described as a form of N. veitchii. - Rich
