I think we should make mention of all the sources who sells seed-original seedlings for sale. Post your sources and supplies. We know the desired uniqueness concerning the virtues of seed-originals. I think it is very important that we recognize those growers who are taking and making an effort to propagate and sell them. We all know tc clones are a dime a dozen.
This list may never take off due to the limitedness of these available. We hope this will change as attitudes and spending focuses on this issue, where we intentionally buy a seed original species or none at all!
Seed original does not always have to be from wild stock, if we take the initiative to propagate/pollinate captive plants, we're already headed in the right direction.
BE has a stockpile vault of species which they just use for displays in shows, never ever used them to make seed originals, just hybrids. I guess they'll keep these species rare by never propagating seed originals, just hybrids of these choice species. The best way that you'll purchase these will be only from tc clone (singular) and being just the random ONE selected for massed propagation, we'll never know if we have a goodie or baddie. All the great plants you see in their greenhouses (and shows) are seed-originals (black truncatas, veitchii's, lowii's, boschianas, maximas, etc.) not a tc clone among them. So the next time you're struggling with your tc talangensis, please know better options are possible. Just not practiced unless you voice your concerns!
OK who wants to offer some light on a grower of seed-original species?
