Description: DANSER 291 KURATA 49
Stems: prostrate, rarely climbing, to 2 m; cylindrical in the basal part, usually triangular with 2 wings, to .3- .5 cm thick.
Leaves: sessile, decurrent into 2 wings over one internode; lamina linear- lanceolate: 10 cm x 1.5 cm to 20 cm x 3 cm; margins entire; apex acute; base decurrent; veins: 4- 7, located in the outer 3/4 - 4/5 of lamina, pennate nerves irregularly reticulate towards margin.
Lower Pitchers: ventricose in lower part, cylindrical in upper: 4 cm x 1 cm to 5 cm x 1 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present; mouth orbiculate, oblique towards the lid; peristome cylindrical, to 0.1 cm wide; lid orbiculate, slightly vaulted, to 1- 2 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, without a ventral glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid.
Upper Pitchers: tubulate- infundibulate in upper 2/3 part, ovate in lower: 6 cm x 2 cm to 15 cm x 3.5 cm; 2 prominent ribs present; mouth ovate, oblique towards the lid; peristome cylindrical, to 0.1 cm wide; lid orbiculate, slightly vaulted, to 1- 2 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, lid without a ventral glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid.
Inflorescence: a long raceme, to 15- 30 cm; pedicels 1 flowered, .6- 1 cm long; bracts not present.
Indumentum: on the stems and leaves none, pitchers shortly tomentose with stellate hairs, becoming deciduous.
Color: stem dark- red to purple, blade dark- green to purple- green above, light- green below, tendril light- green or purple, lower pitcher light- green with dark- red spots, upper pitcher dark- brown outside, purplish white in the pruinose part inside, peristome green, lid dark- red.
Distinguishing Features: small lower pitchers, dark- purple stems, strongly decurrent sessile leaves.
