Synonym: edwardsiana v. macrophylla
Description: DANSER 397, KURATA 73
Stems: prostrate; cylindrical to obtusely or irregularly angled, to .6- 1 cm thick.
Leaves: petiolate, canaliculate, winged, amplexicaul; lamina elliptic or oblong: 10 cm x 5 cm to 20 cm x 10 cm; margins hirsute; apex emarginate or cordate; base abruptly contracted; veins: 1- 3, located in the outer 1/3 to 1/4 of the lamina, pennate nerves indistinct, irregularly reticulate.
Lower Pitchers: globose or ellipsoidal: 5 cm x 5 cm to 15 cm x 12 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to .5- 1.2 cm; mouth orbiculate, horizontal in the front, elevated towards lid; peristome cylindrical, ribs very coarse, teeth on the inner margin 1- 3x as long as broad, to .6- 1.2 cm wide; lid cordate or reniform, to .5- 1 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, without a ventral glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid, to 1 cm.
Upper Pitchers: ovate to infundibulate: 10 cm x 5 cm to 18 cm x 12 cm; 2 fimbriate wings present, to .5- 1.2 cm wide; mouth orbiculate, horizontal in the front, elevated towards the lid; peristome cylindrical, ribs very coarse, teeth on the inner margin 1- 3x as long as broad, to .6-1.2 cm wide; lid cordate or reniform, to .5- 1 cm, apex rounded, base cordate, lid without a ventral glandular crest; spur simple, inserted close to lid, to 1 cm.
Inflorescence: a long raceme, to 40- 60 cm; pedicels 1 flowered, 1- 1.5 cm long; bracts filiform.
Indumentum: entire plant covered with reddish brown hairs.
Color: leaf blade light- green, yellow- green below, tendril yellow- green, pitcher yellow or yellow- green, often tinged with scarlet outside, peristome yellow- green, often tinged with scarlet, lid yellow- green, often scarlet on upper side.
Distinguishing Features: the pitcher is short and ovate and reddish brown hairs are found on all parts of the plant.
