It's interesting how the pitchers of hamataXplatychila have the dark blotching of hamata, but also the lighter red spots of platychila, if I'm seeing that right. Sort of like a harlequin less-toothy hamata. I wondering if the uppers will be more platychila-like considering both are green at that stage: maybe a green with light red spots infundibular pitcher, with a decidedly ridged wide peristome and maybe 2 stripes down the front.

It is nice to learn that there is a female hamata out there. Wish they would make some N.hamata purebred seed originals besides all these hybrids. The true test for a "conservation" grower would be to make some pure seed original species too!
Their N. glandulifera is a female then. This is good news. Now I wish there were more N glands out there male and female. The gland x bosch is almost (like so many boschiana crosses) boschiana in appearance.

Yeah Michael,
I wonder what would happen if we crossed N. albomarginata with N. boschiana, they as both dominate in their hybrids...

Wistuba is releasing 2 new species at the ICPS conference in Leiden.
They are N. peltata and N. hamiguitanensis both from the Philippines. Both will be only available at the sales booth for 60 euro each as they are not available on the website yet. I haven't heard much about these new species yet.

The true test for a "conservation" grower would be to make some pure seed original species too! BE had some seed grown hamatas last year (Black Jungle had them, as well a a couple of other retailers, I think). I should have bought one (since I haven't done too well with the 3 hamatas I've gotten from Wistuba - not their fault, though, I don't think), but the $175.00 or so was too rich for my pocket at the time. Also: Ooh, peltata... I've been waiting for this one!

BE still had some of those seed grown hamatas on their list in small and medium size. I know Tony is bringing in a few of them. Yeah, they are pricey, but did you see what the seed grown hamatas on Ebay were going for? Easily close to 200.00 and I think he must of sold about 10 of them? Maybe more? So that seems to be the going price for now until the tc ones come out and then the price will come down a bit.
Noa, I'm guessing the Wistuba plants are from tc only because the majority of his plants are.

I just got one of those SG hamatas for $150 from BE through Michael, so there's still some floating out of BE if you wait on a reservation for *looks at logs* a little more than 6mo.

Make more seed originals, drive the price down. By then BE will be selling them for pennies on the dollar.
This is why dealers should not be the monopoly holder of new or just species in general. They can control the price and make them available a little at a time keeping prices artificially high.
They've done that with N. rajah and now they are doing it with all the new stuff.

These monopoly growers will forever keep hamatas and many many other species high in price. I for one will hopefully see the day when seed grown N. edwardsiana becomes easily obtainable plants and not restricted to nurseries just wanting to keep them artificially high. The only way we are going to see any of this coming to light will be in the hands of hobbyists whose main goal is for species survival and perpetuation. Something unheard of in other distributors.

Yeah, I saw that too. Tony P is checking on those as I haven't seen them on the BE list lately.
