I predict it will be BE's grandest rip off ever, and the final one.

sdcarnivores and obregon:
Go to the "rant and rage" link and have at it with the black truncatas. I think those responses are more suited to that thread and can be delved into deeper than in this one. Black truncatas will most definitely be an anticipated new release and discussed in great detail. However, if you want a piece of BE to express your possible concerns, post it in that section.

I only mean I have no faith in the black truncatas until I see one of the clones they produce reach maturity. That's all. Anyway, back to his question: any new info?

I thought I would post pictures of ventricosa x ephippiata, a new release this year from EP. These are my first 2 pitchers. pitcher just opened a closer view I think this hybrid has a lot of potential as it gets older.

Bob,
Nice photos and thanks for posting those. It will be interesting to see how N. ephippiata influences the N. ventricosa and the N. truncatas being the male parent. I'm really hoping that the N. lowii crosses: N. lowii x boschiana, N. lowii x campanulata, and the N. lowii x spectabilis turn out to have the heavy influence of the female N. lowii. Their N. lowii x ventricosa is a winner and with the hourglass shape of N. campanulata and wide mouth I think that hybrid will be something special. And if the N. campanulata in that hybrid can induce more sideshoots, then all the better. I'm waiting for my guys to settle in after the leaf burning and start adapting to the outdoors. It will take some time for my plants to start producing any pitchers worthy of photographing as they adapt.
Quick reply to the post mortem rant and rage page. Go ahead and discuss black truncatas as you want. There is a legitimate concern about this upcoming Nepenthes. There have been questions raised as to the authenticity of some hybrids released by BE recently. I do recall that N. platychila got some run as to whether that is the true species or maybe a hybrid with N. fusca. That realm of discussion is beyond me and I leave that to the experts that know more about that stuff. However, those concerns should be brought up and discussed openly. My take is that we all can talk about Nepenthes as long as it is civil and not an attack on character.

The CP Jungle has some info that EP is about to release N. (lowii x veitchii) x xTrusmadiensis and N. (lowii x veitchii) x campanulata. Those should be absolutely killer.

HS! How much are they going to be, and where do I line up? EP hasnt set their price yet. I have a price of $79.99 listed for each of them, but it might be slightly higher than this, or considerably lower. It's just my current best guess as to how much they will be. One thing thats aggravating the situation is that the US$ is slipping against the AUD$, so the imported stuff is getting more expensive to bring in.

Don't feel too bad. I did check last night and I am 16th in line.
By the way, EP has some new pictures on their website, some the first I have seen of a couple of new hybrids.

Wistuba has N. deaniana listed on their website for 100.00 Euro as of July 1. Says it's extremely rare and limited. Don't know if it's from seed or tc and this is one species that doesn't seem to have much written about it.

He had one on the annual meeting of the german cp society and he said they were out of tc. I think he got the seeds from Steward who rediscovered this species.
