Seems like BE is beginning to offer first run seed plants followed up by tc. A couple of the latest being N. bical and N. treubiana as well as others. Nice to see a major supplier quietly going in that direction.

BE has doe that for a loooong time. They just run out of seedlings quickly. Which would you want, if given a choice?

Cook's has a lowii x truncata 7" plant on Ebay at 200.00 right now with a few days to go. Will it top 400.00 in the bidding?
BE has had seed grown plants in the past, but not as many as now. New species and hybrids widely available for first run seed grown. The appearance is that they're making more of an effort to have seed grown stuff available and known.

The pitcher on the lowii x truncata seems somewhat small even for a cutting (and I assume it is a cutting). These plants have been around long enough now that they are pretty big. I have not heard that any new ones have been released by EP, though it is on their list of future offerings. I would want to see a picture of the whole plant before spending that much money. In my opinion this is still the greatest hybrid yet made. I guess from the bids, others agree.

The lowii x truncata is one of those diamonds in the rough. I remember seeing it for sale the first time at just a 100$ or so. Now its almost impossible to get...even surpassing the mighty N. x predator. Its sad that its soooo limited.

EP has a few additions to their list. Lowii x truncata for 400.00. That would surpass Dark Cherry as the most expensive I've seen on their list. A couple of highend northiana x veitchiis as well. They're runnin' a special on their seed grown veitchiis too. Hope Michael and Tony can get some of those past USDA cuz they sure look nice.

The EP lowii x truncata seems to be off the list already. Did they already sell out all of the cuttings (probably very limited numbers)? That is a great hybrid, and in my opinion is one that is worth a big price tag.

Very few important species exist in the hobby that are known male/female. EP is very fortunate to own a female N. lowii (the goose that lays golden eggs) and again fortunate to have a male N. Trusmadiensis. Other sought after species (male or female) would be N. ephippiata, N. macrophylla, N. villosa, N. burbidgeae, N. hamata, N. rajah, N. edwardsiana, etc. (note that these are all highland species). You can produce very desirable progeny if you had any of these in flower, either sex.

The first of BE's adnatas and neoguineensis have become available through Petflytrap. com from Mike Howlett. CP Jungle shouldn't be too far behind and Tony as he hardens his stuff off. Those two species were only available from Wistuba so it's nice to see a little diversity.
With all the different truncata hybrids EP has going, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a remake of lowii x truncata in the pipeline soon. Just a guess though.

I really hope that EP makes lowii x truncata again from the same parents. Its a hybrid that just can't be missed and is a fantastic addition to any collection. I love their lowii x veitchii as well.

Thats great news Nate. Locally there are plans among the canadian growers to put in a EP order. I don't have a single one of their plants and I really want to experience the quality plants that they offer. Here's hoping that by the time something actually materializes, the plants are still available.
