This thread is for general banter, rumor, and gossip about Nepenthes. Discussion about how much was paid for a Nepenthes cutting on Ebay to new species discoveries in the wild. No use getting off topic in another thread when you can do that here.

Do you know what the plant is that you bought? Sometimes there's very nice Nepenthes at reasonable prices at those meetings. Many times the members donate cuttings for auctions and such.

Sunbelle has a smaller Predator on Ebay and it's getting up there already. It's at 110.00 with a day or so to go. Will it break the 200.00 barrier? Some of these Nepenthes auctions are getting crazy!

With 20 minutes left the predator was at 177.00. Maybe it did break the 200.00 barrier.

Wouldn't surprise me. Within minutes of announcing the sale on the local Taiwan grapevine, I sold my mid-sized predator for the equivalent of US$250 last year.

I think the final price was 182.00 or very close to it. The plant was around 6 inches or so in diameter.

Now don't jump the gun here EP. There's nooooooooooo need for a price increase. Just keep on producing those insanely fantastic hybrids and let the outside world scratch and claw and drop mortgage payments here in the US for those plants.

EP: I think you sell your plants for astoundingly low prices given the quality and size. As a consumer, I thank you. Unfortunately, most are not easy to get, hence the sometimes huge Ebay prices. I would like to see a USA retailer offer a wide range of your plants.

Bob,
I agree as well. EP plants are exceptional quality for the price. Maybe once plants can get through LA without any mishaps, more vendors will be willing to bring in more plants for resale. There's definitely a niche to fill in the US for bringing in some quantity of EP plants. Tony used to be one of the reliable importers but he seems to be on hiatus. Maybe Cook's or even the CP Jungle might dabble in bringing in some EP product. I guess time will tell.

I thought CPJ used to bring them in back in the day? I wish they would again. I'm running out of LL species to collect. Plus, EP's plants are tops.

Thanks everyone for your compliments. There are some great new plants coming up soon as they are just getting sizeable. They will include N.truncata x ephippiata, N.ventricosa x ephippiata, N.lowii x campanulata, N.boschiana x veitchii-H/L, N.lowii x boschiana and many more. We will be sending our first shipment through LA very soon and don't forsee any probems. Buyers are reluctant to use them still which we don't understand as they are yours officers. We are definitely interested in a reliable wholesale importer to the US and also a company interested in marketing our potplant range. Anyone interested please contact us. Also no price rise just yet Cheers, Geoff
