You should probably get in contact with them now if your thinking of doing that. Just do get comfortable with their system.

Saw on Petflytrap's news page that one of their orders from Malesiana Tropicals was destroyed by the USDA for some sort of mite in the packaging recently. There are orders coming in from EP soon into the US and I'm definitely holding my breath that they make it through.

Yeah, I've been waiting since mid-November for my N. veitchii from EP/CPJungle...

Pet flytrap had their EP plants held up at customs again. Here's their explanation:
A bit of a 'soapbox' update here...our shipment from Exotica plants was confiscated by USDA earlier this week because of the supposed finding of a type of fungus. USDA wants to destroy the shipment to prevent this 'pathogen' from potentially affecting the US environment and agriculture, which we can understand. However, we have documentation from plant pathologists in Australia who state that USDA has misidentified this fungus, and cannot have identified it correctly using the methods that were used by USDA. Exotica Plants has had over $50,000 in plants destroyed by the USDA over the past several years, and yet none of the pathogens (pests, fungi, dieseases, etc.) in question can be found at their facility; we continue to receive fantastic, healthy plants from them whenever our shipments can get through USDA. We are working very hard to get USDA to allow an inspection of the supposedly infected plant by an independent source. USDA is very resistant to this, claiming that their national inspectors are 'the best of the best' (which I would hope is true), and that their findings are unquestionable. We have been pressed very hard by our local USDA inspection facility to just destroy this shipment, inferring that we will have to deal with the Department of Homeland Security if we do not let them destroy the shipment or return it to Australia. This 'belief of infallibility' by the USDA has to stop! It is costing many US carnivorous plant businesses thousands of dollars, and all because of the lack of checks and balances within the USDA national inspection service. Because of the maount of time this endeavor is taking, we are a few days behind our usual schedule on shipping orders; rest assured, though, that orders are being shipped on a daily basis, and that your order will be shipped just as quickly as possible.
Not very promising news.

Tony has some veitchii striped peristomes from seed from EP available for reservation as of 4/17. At least those are in the US safely.

For all the eBayers out there: It appears that Tristan's CPs has just re-started their eBay sales for the year. They have a few nice plants up for auction as of this week.

Kim from Tristan's CP's has been growing out my N. spectabilis x truncata seedlings and currently has one on eBay. You don't want to miss out on this cross. The leaves on my plants have inherited the crimson red color from the spectabilis parent and there are already stripes on the peristome.

There's an edwardsiana on Ebay for auction starting at .99. It's in Thailand and supposedly a few inches across. The photo is not of the actual plant. Be curious to see what happens with that one!

Yes, an eddie is certainly an alluring Nep at this point in time. That plant could go for a hefty price.
Hopefully the winner of the auction ends up with what they think they are paying for.

EP just updated their website and posted some pictures of the parents of their new cross to-be-released: lowii x merrilliana-Giant. Speaking of eBay, there's a variegated mirabilis on right now from Thailand. The buy-it-now price is $111.15 USD.

Looks like CP Jungle's big order from EP arrived and made it through customs. A true miracle. Let's hope the plants are the usual stellar quality when they get to their new homes. Also, CPJ is offering some reduced prices on EP stuff if you get your snipes in.

It would be interesting to know if the CPJ plants passed through customs at JFK or LAX, since the west coast port of entry seems to be the one that most of the problems were occurring at.

There's some BE 2-3" N. macrophyllas on Tony's list as of 6/19. Yes they're tc but they don't come around that often and Tony hardens his plants real well. Also a few hamatas from tc.

There's a bag, not a few pods, of fresh N. edwardsiana seed on the Bay for 99.00 or 5 bills for the "Buy it now" price. Should be interesting.
