Some of the problems in growing some of these natural highland hybrids will still be exacting climates that allow these hybrids to grow well at. Even though of hybrid origin, these plants have a specific climate requirement that must be met at the seedling stages, and only then will larger plants be had. While many seed original clones of edwardsiana and villosa is out there, they must painstakingly be grown out hard to qualify them to maintain their characteristics. Aside from villosa's cold temperatures, I believe they must also endure higher light intensities. Many other plant species have that indumentum that helps block sunlight out in areas of higher light intensities. Mot growers of villosa seem to grow them inside under lights.
Many variables, many of which are little known or understood by us makes these species inaccessible to grow in ideal conditions.
The presence of definite teeth between these natural hybrids to me suggests that these are closer related than we realize as many primary hybrids will lack these developed teeth peristomes in its offspring. M

Looks like Borneo Exotics has tweaked their price list again. This time they've omitted the pricing and replaced it with an A, B, C system. The letters indicate availability based on pricing. For example, inexpensive plants like N. lowii are given the letter A. More expensive Nepenthes like seed grown N. hamata are given the letter C while the "tweeners" are given letter B. To get the price list, you can email BE and request it.

The Tujuh singalana with the wide peristome isn't available in this new list anymore.

There is some flaws when using a system based on "availability" and unassigned prices. Buyer Beware! Also compare your prices and availability to see that they are FAIR! I have my own discourse for saying this but there's always a new buyer that isn't aware of how the ball bounces.
But definitely wait for the clearance specials when plants are sold up to 75% off their current pricing. You don't want to be caught when you purchased ten of something for $10 each only to learn that the next day you could have purchased them for $2.50 instead, AND qualify yourself to BUY a rare offering of a seedling not listed on the main catalog.

There is a N. x TM, N. truncata x epi, N. truncata x TM, N. veitchii x eymae, and N. lowii x spectabilis on eBay right now FROM THE SAME SELLER! My bet is he rakes in $2,000 on the 5 plants combined.

Regarding the plants on eBay, some of these bids are nuts. I think these plants can each be ordered from CP jungle for under $100 (or maybe some from Tony also). Someone is "flipping" plants they just bought.

Yeah, I saw that too. They are "flipping" plants except for the N. x trusmadiensis. I do find it funny when Tony has N. ventricosa x ephippiatas for the past 2 months available and someone on Ebay buys one for almost double and the plant is the same size. Just goes to show that some buyers don't know where to acquire these plants I guess. Considering that TC clones of N. x trusmadiensis are out there, you'd think the overall price or perceived rarity of N. x trusmadiensis would be diminishing a bit. I think the CP Jungle had those for around 150.00 so maybe this cutting will go for around 600.00?

I think the CP Jungle had those for around 150.00 so maybe this cutting will go for around 600.00? We were able to get quantities of N .xTrusmadiensis clone2's around Thanksgiving, and they've been selling at $100 since then, and the next batches we get in we will likely be able to reduce the prices again, so the price is certainly trending down on this plant. The BE xTrusmadiensis clones grow so fast that you really dont need to bother with a rooted cutting. These things are pushing N3 size ( 6"+) in just a few months. There's really no need to buy a cutting unless someone wanted a plant which could immediately produce upper pitchers, or if you wanted a specific clone for hybridizing work. (ie EP's rooted cutting they had up for auction.)

The biggest downfall is that these are tc plants. While not everyone may agree with me 100%, the difference between a real species as an original species and a tc clone is tenfold.
People have purchased tc plants from a rare cattleya orchid plant for pennies on the dollar, a division right off of the ORIGINAL plant still commands thousands of dollars. Go figure! You can buy a cheapo tc clone.

When do the black truncatas come out? How many thousands will it cost per plant?

I bet it will be $500 per seedling of N. truncata "Black" (i dont believe its a pure truncata either, but hey, just me). Watch as they turn out to be not black either...
